Beginning on July 23, 2025, the Rhine-Ruhr region will host the judo tournament as part of the World University Games, running for four days. The competitions will take place in Essen, Germany. A total of 392 athletes from 60 countries will take part, competing in both men's (−60 kg to +100 kg) and women's (−48 kg to +78 kg) weight categories, as well as in a mixed team event held in accordance with FISU regulations.
