The animated film weaves together several surreal stories inspired by the works of Haruki Murakami. A schizophrenic accountant, a bank employee, and his estranged wife try to find meaning in life. They are aided by a giant talking frog, a missing cat, and a looming catastrophe threatening the city. The characters must save Tokyo from an earthquake while confronting their inner struggles.
