After her elderly friend Bessie, a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp, passes away, Eleanor moves in with her daughter and grandson in New York City, who have little time for her. She soon joins a Jewish seniors' group, where the other members mistakenly believe she is a Holocaust survivor.
