Animal in War (2025) is seven incredible rescue stories united by kindness and hope, about ordinary Ukrainians who never abandon their own and are always ready to help. From the touching story of a boy fleeing an occupied village with a cow, to an underwater tale set against a war-torn sea, to an unforgettable adventure of a young Kyiv resident and his cat.

This long-awaited feature film is created by talented directors with the participation of Ukrainian star actors and Sean Penn, featuring a soundtrack by Imagine Dragons.

The authors of the novellas, whose heroes include an eagle, a cat, a white rabbit, a wolf, a goat, a cow, and even fish caught in the war in Ukraine, are Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi, Yuliia Shashkova, Oleksii Mamedov, Maksym Tuzov, Sviatoslav Kostiuk, Ivan Sautkin, and Andrii Lidahovskyi. The animals are brought to life with the help of beloved actors Sean Penn, Maryna Koshkina, Oleksandr Pecheritsia, Andrii Isaienko, Mykhailo Matiukhin, Daria Marchenko, Olha Korotiaieva, popular blogger Olha Martynyshyn, as well as young film stars Artem Chernii, Polina Haiova, Mykhailo Pulianskyi, Daria Derzhun, Nazar Hladii, and others.

The world premiere of the film took place at the Tribeca Festival (New York, USA), and the national premiere was held as part of the Odesa International Film Festival, where War Through the Eyes of Animals was the closing film. After its high-profile premieres, the film was released nationwide on 06.11. Each viewer will not only be able to watch these stories but also become part of the action by scanning a QR code in the credits to join the “Companions Fund” — a program for training emotional support dogs that will help veterans, children, and civilians affected by the war restore calm and trust.
