In 2022, the disappearance of 18-year-old Debanhi Escobar shocked the world. After attending a party, the young woman vanished on a deserted highway. Two weeks later, her body was found inside a motel water tank. The questionable conclusions of the official investigation sparked mass protests across the country. The project examines the failures of the authorities and the family’s fight for an honest and transparent investigation. Debanhi’s story has become a symbol of the tragedy faced by thousands of women and of the deep crisis within Mexico’s justice system.
