From February 18 to 22, the annual Volta ao Algarve road cycling race is taking place in Portugal. This is the 52nd edition of the prestigious competition, which traditionally gathers world cycling stars in the south of the country. The route includes five stages with a traditional summit finish at Alto do Malhão. Athletes tackle hilly terrain and participate in an individual time trial. The Volta ao Algarve is part of the UCI ProSeries calendar and is considered a key preparation stage for the spring classics.
