Three elderly veterans of a bloody war pass the time in a nursing home, trying not to think about the nearness of death. The characters constantly joke, play pranks on each other, and find comfort in companionship. In an attempt to regain a sense of freedom, the friends plan an escape to feel free like birds once again. This is a story about how humor and friendship help overcome the fear of the unknown. The screenplay is based on Gérald Sibleyras’s play The Wind in the Poplars.
