The 2026 Giro d'Italia cycling race features a route across the territories of Bulgaria, Switzerland, and Italy. The start will take place on May 8 in Nessebar, with the finish scheduled for May 31 in Rome. The 147-kilometer first stage will run along the coast to Burgas. The second leg of the journey from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo leads through challenging mountain passes. The third day will begin in Plovdiv and conclude in Sofia after climbing Borovets. The total distance of the marathon is 3,459 kilometers. Following the Bulgarian stages, the peloton will return to the race's homeland to battle for the leader's pink jersey on legendary Italian climbs.
