Dzhigit Akhtama and the beautiful Maimkhan are at the head of one of the first population uprisings of the Uighurs against the Manchu-Chinese enslavers. The action takes place in the middle of the XIX century, at the very beginning of the liberation movement. A novel by Zia Samadi "Maimkhan" served as the basis of the movie.
