Before the revolution the residents of distant Chukotka were subjected to severe exploitation. With the first Soviet ship the authorized representative of Kamchatka revolution committee Los and ethnographer Zhukov came to this land. They were going to the nomad camp Lauren. The news of the Russian people arrival spread quickly throughout the entire coast. Overcoming the resistance of the American buyer-up Thomson and local rich man Alitet, Los and Zhukov establish fair trade laws and rallied the poor hunters. The American colonizers Todson and his son Frank, as well as the rich man Alitet, left Chukotka. In spring Soviet people detachment arrived to help Chukchi build a new life on the free land.
