Jamala is a Ukrainian singer and composer. Elements of several styles are intertwined in her music: pop, soul, jazz and rock. The turning point in Jamala’s career was a performance at the International Competition of Young Performers ''New Wave – 2009'' in Jurmala, where she won the grand prix, having surprised the jury with exceptional vocal and outstanding singing of songs in various genres.
