Moonee is a very active six-year-old girl who lives in a motel and spends most of the time unsupervised. While her mother is trying to make a living by any means possible, the girl wanders around the neighborhood, begging money from tourists and playing tricks on people. And only the motel manager, Bobby, is sympathetic to Mooney's mischief.
