The events take place in France and Germany in 1944. A Soviet scout, who acts under the name of a French businessman Auguste Petitjean, “surrenders” to Gestapo men who take him for an English spy. Thus he gets an opportunity to establish direct contacts with high-ranking Gestapo and Abwerh men who realize the inevitable downfall of Hitler’s army and are trying to enter into cooperation with countries from Anti-Hitler coalition.
