Negeena has a talent. She is successful in playing on a stage of a provincial theatre. The girl has a beloved man – a student Meluzov. They are pure in their hearts and dream of having a peaceful life. But theatre customs are far from being puritanical. In order not to break her career, Negeena becomes a rich person’s lover. Meluzov is desperate because of her beloved woman’s behavior and does his best to show corruption among theatre trustees to the public.
