Charlie Countryman is dissatisfied with his life. There is nothing interesting in it, and the work is just a sad think happening from nine to six. The only joy he finds is in drugs. During the next intake, the protagonist sees a ghost of his mother, who says that he needs to visit Bucharest. But Charlie is not good at geography and instead comes to Budapest, where he accidentally gets associated with the local mafia, finding himself on the verge of death.
