The beginning of the 19th century. An Ossetic young man Uruskhan tried to protect a poor herdsman and kills a Cossack captain. Now he has to hide himself. The character gets to a village where he meets a beauty Zalikhan. They fall in love with each other from the first sight. Having learnt that his beloved one already belongs to another man, the young man decided to steal her.
