The film is based on the novel by E. Bogdanov. The end of the 80s, the Sladkov couple has returned to the USSR after a business trip to Africa, which lasted for more than a year. Sladkovs don’t have their own child, but they find out that their nephew, who suffers from sensory deprivation, was given to an orphanage.
