The film is set in the times when China consisted of many small principalities. The governor of one of them discovers that outstanding sage Confucius now lives on his home territory. He invites him to the court and puts on a high post. But as a result of court games, Confucius was forced to leave their homeland and go on pilgrimage for many years to spread his teachings throughout the immense China and share with others his knowledge and ideas.
