Love and passion came to Gregory and Aksinya in a tragic time for the Don Cossacks. After the years of World War there is a ruthless Civil War. The Bolsheviks have taken everything from them – the country and faith, the original Cossack’s way of life, where every man is a warrior and a woman is the keeper of the hearth; family and friends, their father's home, the right to live their lives. They only couldn’t take away the love that was for Gregory and Aksinya as a leading star to the end; and affluent and quiet Don, who still carries its waters.
