Magneto

Magneto

Magneto
His real name is Erik Lehnsherr. Magneto is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Comics universe, has the power to control magnetism, the main antagonist of the X-Men. He has created several unions hostile to them, including the Brotherhood of Mutants and the Acolytes. Erik Lehnsherr was born in 1930. His parents were Jews from Düsseldorf. During the Nazi regime, his family was forcibly exiled to Auschwitz. Separated from his parents, Erik used his abilities for the first time by bending the metal gate separating them. The boy was then brought to Dr. Klaus Schmidt, who persuaded him to use his powers. But Lehnsherr refused, whereupon Schmidt killed his mother. Erik became enraged, which strengthened his powers. Fleeing the horrors of Nazi Germany, he emigrated to the United States. He hunted down Nazi war criminals and soon tracked down his mother's killer (who now called himself Sebastian Shaw) in a submarine. He was thwarted by Schmidt's associate, the telepathic Emma Frost, by throwing him overboard. But Charles Xavier rescued Lehnsherr and brought him into "Division X," a CIA project to bring mutants to the side of the U.S. government. This is where he got his nickname, Magneto. Thus a close friendship develops between Erik and Charles. At the same time, he develops a romantic relationship with Xavier's adopted sister Raven (aka Mystique). Upon arriving in the Soviet Union, Erik and Charles interrogate Emma Frost and learn of Shaw's plans to cause a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and other countries. When Erik and Shaw finally meet face to face, Magneto destroys part of Shaw's telepathic shield and removes his helmet, allowing Charles to paralyze Schmidt. Ignoring Charles' pleas to stop, Magneto still kills Shaw and takes control of the nuclear missiles. Thanks to Charles' intervention, Erik loses control of the weapons. Frustrated with his ally, Lensherr invites the rest of the mutants of the Hellfire Club and the other X-Men to join him to protect the mutants. The X-Men refuse, but Mystique joins him and the rest of the Hellfire Club. In 1963, Magneto tried to save John F. Kennedy from a bullet. After that operation failed, he was captured by the government and imprisoned in a concrete prison under the Pentagon.
