Palpatine

Also known as Darth Sidious, he is one of the main negative characters in the Star Wars universe, a Sith, the last Supreme Chancellor of the Republic and the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire. He was extremely powerful: neither Mace Windu, nor Yoda, nor any other Jedi could kill him. He was the most powerful lord of the Galaxy. He had a keen intellect and the ability to see the future. He was born into a very powerful family on the Mid Rim planet of Naboo, in the city of Theed. At the age of 18, in a fit of rage, he killed all his relatives and took possession of a huge fortune. After some time, he met Sith Lord Darth Plagueis (whom he later killed, too) and became his apprentice, receiving the name Darth Sidious. With the help of Plagueis, Palpatine's career took off: he soon became a member of the Parliament of Naboo, then an ambassador, and soon a senator. Thus began his journey to absolute power. Using his powers of manipulation, intrigue, and the Dark Side of the Force, he became High Chancellor for thirteen years. It was Palpatine who led the entire course of the Clone Wars to destroy the Jedi. Soon, he turned Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side, giving him the name Darth Vader. This event became fatal for all surviving Jedi and inhabitants of the Galaxy. At the same time, Palpatine transformed the Old Republic into the Galactic Empire. For two decades, Palpatine ruled the Galaxy alone, destroying the last strongholds of democracy, including the Senate. At the age of 78, during the Battle of Endor, he was killed aboard the second Death Star by his apprentice Darth Vader. But secret knowledge helped Sidious retain his consciousness even after his death. The Sith spirit traveled to Byss and inhabited the clone's body. After that, Palpatine revived the Empire and was very close to the destruction of the New Republic.
