Iron Man

Iron Man is a character from Marvel Comics and its movie adaptations. His role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is played by actor Robert Downey Jr.

His real name is Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark. The hero is a brilliant inventor, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. At the age of twenty-one, Tony inherited his father's business and turned the company into one of the leading weapons manufacturers. All his life, Tony has led an almost carefree existence. However, one day he is captured by Afghan terrorists who try to force him to create weapons of mass destruction. Instead, he creates a high-tech suit of armor with which he escapes captivity. Later, Stark improves his armor with weapons and devices to protect the world in the guise of Iron Man.

The Iron Man armor gives Stark superhuman strength and protection. Stark can lift to 90 tons in standard operation, and his jet-powered boots and gloves allow him to fly. The suit is equipped with repulsor beams on his arms, missiles, lasers, and flamethrowers. The unibody in the center of his chest is capable of emitting various kinds of light energy, and his helmet contains communication devices and a recording one.

Tony Stark is one of the first and main members of the Avengers superhero team.
