In the seventh round, he knocked out Mexican Francisco Mercado during a Charity Boxing Night, also held at the Kyiv Palace of Sports. His next opponent, also from the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world, defeated fellow countryman Jonathan Martinez last August. The victory was awarded by a split decision.

Antonio Rodriguez debuted back in 2007. The 36-year-old native of Puebla has thirty-four victories in forty-three bouts. In twenty-nine cases, he knocked out his opponents. In the division, Juan won the WBC Continental Americas title in the summer of 2022. In the lightweight category, he claimed the WBO NABO, in the 57.153 kg category, he won the WBA Interim World, WBC FECARBOX, and in featherweight, the WBC Youth World titles.
