The first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal between Legia Warsaw and Chelsea will take place at the Polish Army Stadium in Warsaw. In the previous round, the hosts eliminated Norwegian side Molde thanks to a home win (2-3, 2-0 after extra time). The visitors defeated the Danish club Copenhagen twice in the Round of 16 (2-1, 1-0). Legia has previously hosted just three English clubs in European competitions. In the 1990/91 Cup Winners’ Cup semifinal, they lost to Manchester United (1-3). In the 1995/96 UEFA Champions League group stage, they beat Blackburn Rovers (1-0), and in the 2021/22 Europa League, they defeated Leicester City at home (1-0). This season, Legia played home matches at the Polish Army Stadium against Caernarfon Town (6-0), Brøndby (1-1), Drita (2-0), Real Betis (1-0), Dinamo Minsk (4-0), Lugano (1-2), and Molde. Spanish forward Marc Gual has been involved in six goals, while Paweł Wszołek has five goal contributions. The Legionaries are playing in the knockout stage for the second year in a row, although they were eliminated in the Round of 32 last season. Legia has only suffered three defeats across 14 home matches in the competition.

Chelsea has played away fixtures this campaign against Servette (1-2), Panathinaikos (4-1), Heidenheim (2-0), Astana (3-1), and Copenhagen. French midfielder Christopher Nkunku has tallied eight goal contributions (5 goals + 3 assists), while Spanish striker Marc Guiu has scored six times. This is Chelsea’s debut season in the Europa Conference League. Under manager Enzo Maresca, the London side has won nine of their ten matches so far, with a total goal difference of 31-6.
