The Videotron Centre in Quebec, Canada, will host the bout between Christian Mbilli and Maciej Sulecki for the interim WBC super middleweight title (76 kg), which is currently vacant. Originally, the French fighter was expected to face American boxer Diego Pacheco, but the Mexican-American opted to pursue the WBO belt instead. The Cameroonian-born fighter last stepped into the ring in August of last year at the same venue, where he defeated Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko by unanimous decision. "Solide" successfully defended his WBA International and WBC Continental Americas titles for the fifth and eighth times, respectively, in the super middleweight division. His upcoming opponent, representing Poland, scored a 10th-round TKO win over Kazakhstan’s Ali Akhmedov in Astana last winter to claim the WBC Silver title.

Born in Yaoundé, Mbilli made his professional debut in February 2017. The Frenchman has won all 28 of his fights, 23 of them by knockout. Maciej Sulecki has been competing at the elite level since June 2010. The Pole has 33 wins in 36 fights, with 13 coming by way of knockout. He has already lost twice in world title bouts. In 2019, he was defeated by American Demetrius Andrade via unanimous decision in Providence while challenging for the WBO title at 72.5 kg. Last summer, "Striczu" suffered another loss — this time in Carson — to Diego Pacheco in a fight for the WBC and WBO International super middleweight belts.
