Nine years ago, in August at Arena Lviv, the rivals produced a high-scoring thriller, where the Orange-and-Blacks staged a comeback to win 3-2 after trailing 0-2 at halftime. From that squad, Denys Miroshnychenko and Ambrosiy Chachua — who scored in that match — are still playing for the main club of Galicia's capital.

In the opening round, the hosts lost 0-2 at home to Polissia. Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Nazar Domchak made his first appearance for the senior team in an official match and saved a penalty in the closing minutes of the second half. The Brazilian has now tallied four goal contributions in four matches for the Miners, including UEFA Europa League qualifiers. This year, the Orange-and-Blacks have lost only once in the Ukrainian Championship — a 2-4 defeat to Kolos in April.
