Over the past seven years, the Red-and-Whites will now feature for the fifth time in the Champions League playoff qualification. In the 2018/19 campaign, the Serbian giant advanced past Salzburg (0-0, 2-2), a year later against Young Boys (1-1, 2-2), and last summer they upset Bodø/Glimt (2-0, 1-2). During this stretch, the team failed to reach the tournament’s group stage only once—in the 2022/23 season, when they were eliminated by Maccabi Haifa (2-2, 2-3).

Pafos is playing its debut season in the Champions League. The club from the namesake Cypriot city only made its first appearance in European competitions thirteen months ago. Since then, the Cypriot side has taken part in twenty-two UEFA matches and reached the Round of 16 in the Europa Conference League. Teams from the island nation have advanced through qualification only five times. APOEL managed it on four occasions, and in the 2008/09 campaign, Anorthosis also achieved the feat.
