The hosts debuted in Champions League qualification four years ago. The Eliteserien winner has twice reached the fourth round but failed both times. In the 2022/23 season, the team from Nordland County was eliminated by Dinamo Zagreb (1-0, 1-4, overtime), and in the previous campaign, they fell to Crvena Zvezda (2-1, 0-2). In the 2002/03 tournament, the Styrian side was knocked out by Maccabi Haifa (3-3, 0-2), and in the 2011/12 edition by BATE (0-2, 1-1). After that, the Austrian club exited qualification three times after the very first tie, while last year they started directly in the group stage of the league.
