In the opening round of Group D for the European qualifiers to the World Cup, Ukraine will take on France at Tarczynski Arena in Wrocław, Poland. Historically, the Blue and Yellow have faced Les Bleus six times on home turf. In the Euro 2000 and 2008 qualifiers, as well as the World Cup 2022 qualifying stage, the teams drew—0-0, 2-2, and 1-1, respectively. In a June 2011 friendly, Ukraine struck first after half-time but collapsed late, conceding three goals after the 86th minute to lose 1-4. During the Euro 2012 group stage, France beat Ukraine 2-0 in Donetsk at Donbass Arena. Ukraine’s only victory in this head-to-head came in the World Cup 2014 qualifiers, when Mykhailo Fomenko’s side defeated France 2-0 at Kyiv’s Olympic Stadium.

MEGOGO will stream Ukraine vs. France live on September 5, 2025. The nominal hosts have only failed to score in one of their last ten matches — against Belgium in the Nations League playoffs, 0-3. According to the UAF press service, head coach Serhiy Rebrov has called up Dynamo Kyiv winger Nazar Voloshyn, who has yet to make his senior debut. Shakhtar leads Ukraine’s squad with six players, while four more represent Dynamo Kyiv.

France secured third place in Nations League Division A in June, beating Germany 2-0 in the third-place match. In their last six outings, Les Bleus failed to win half of the games. Injuries will keep Manchester City’s Ryan Cherki and Arsenal’s William Saliba out, with Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike and Inter’s Benjamin Pavard stepping in. PSG contributes the most players to the squad, with five call-ups.
