After that, Craig Bellamy’s men suffered defeats in friendlies against Canada (0–1) and England (0–3). The Dragons have lost only twice in their last twelve home matches, scoring at least two goals in half of them.

Belgium missed out on a win in Skopje after conceding late to North Macedonia (1–1) but went on to crush Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein with identical 6–0 scorelines in Anderlecht and Vaduz, respectively. In this qualifying campaign, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been directly involved in five goals (4+1), while Maxim De Cuyper and Youri Tielemans have each contributed four (2+2 and 3+1, respectively).
