The national teams of Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein will face each other at the Astana Arena in Astana as part of Matchday 7 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Both sides compete in Group J, which also includes Belgium, North Macedonia, and Wales. After five matches, Kazakhstan sit fourth in the group with three points, while Liechtenstein have yet to earn a single point and remain in fifth place.

Kazakhstan have played five matches in the qualifiers, winning only once. That victory came in their first away game against Liechtenstein, with a score of 2–0. Afterwards, Kazakhstan suffered defeats to North Macedonia and Wales (both 0–1) and to Belgium (0–6).

Liechtenstein have lost all five of their matches in the qualifying campaign. In September 2025, the team was defeated by Belgium (0–6) and North Macedonia (0–5). Liechtenstein have yet to score a goal in the group and have conceded 19. The match at Astana Arena will be the first-ever head-to-head meeting between these teams on Kazakh soil. In their only previous encounter on March 25, 2025, Kazakhstan defeated Liechtenstein 2–0.
