In the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage in Group C, the Uganda — Tanzania match will take place at Stade El Barid in Rabat. Both teams began the continental tournament with defeats. The Cranes scored a consolation goal against Tunisia in stoppage time, losing 1-3. The Taifa Stars put up a strong fight against Nigeria and equalized during the match, but only for a few minutes, eventually falling 1-2.

Uganda finished second in Group K during the qualification campaign, collecting thirteen points. It faced South Africa, drawing 2-2 and losing 0-2, played against Congo with wins of 2-0 and 1-0, and defeated South Sudan 1-0 and 2-1. Forward Denis Omedi stood out in the qualification and scored Uganda’s only goal of the current tournament in the match against Tunisia.

Tanzania secured second place in Group H only in the final round of qualification, finishing with ten points. It faced Ethiopia with results of 0-0 and 2-0, played Guinea and won both matches 2-1 and 1-0, and lost twice to DR Congo, 0-1 and 0-2. Simon Msuva and Feisal Salum each scored two goals during the qualifying stage. According to CAF data, the opponents have faced each other 61 times across all competitions, with Uganda winning 33 matches, Tanzania claiming 12 victories, and 16 encounters ending in draws.
