The national teams of Armenia and Ukraine will face each other in Matchday 1 of Group B at the final tournament of the UEFA Futsal EURO 2026. The match will be played at Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas. For Armenia, this will be its debut at the final stage of the European Championship. The team qualified through the playoffs and surprised Kazakhstan, which had been considered one of the favorites of the qualifying campaign. Ukraine, meanwhile, will face an opponent without serious tournament experience at this level, but one that brings strong emotions and discipline to the court.

Ukraine comes into the tournament as one of the most experienced futsal teams in Europe. It won silver medals at EURO 2001 and 2003, reached the semifinals in 2022, and claimed bronze at the 2024 Futsal World Cup. Last year, six victories in qualification became part of a record-breaking 12-match winning streak for the team, clearly reflecting its current level and consistency.

The history between the sides includes only one official meeting: in 2000, Ukraine defeated Armenia 3–2, with a hat-trick scored by current Ukraine head coach Oleksandr Kosenko. Ahead of the final tournament, Ukraine has some squad issues: Rostyslav Semenchenko and Andrii Melnyk will miss the match due to injuries. At the same time, captain Petro Shoturma is fit again after a lengthy recovery.
