In the UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal, the second leg between AEK and Rayo Vallecano will take place at Allwyn Arena. The hosts have been highly confident on home soil, winning eight of their last ten matches in the tournament with an overall goal difference of 21-9. In its European history, the Athens club has hosted eight Spanish opponents. For the visitors, this trip will be their first visit to Greece, while in international competitions, the Madrid side has suffered defeat in only three of eleven away fixtures.

AEK began its journey in the current campaign from the second qualifying round, successively eliminating Hapoel Be'er Sheva 1-0, Aris 3-1, Anderlecht 2-0, and Aberdeen 6-0. Rayo Vallecano started its European season from the final qualifying round, where the team defeated Neman 1-0, Jagiellonia 2-1, and Samsunspor 3-1 away from home, drew with Häcken 2-2, and lost to Slovan Bratislava 1-2. Midfielder Álvaro García has been involved in five goal-scoring actions for the Madrid side. The Spanish club is competing in only its second European campaign in history, and on both occasions it has managed to reach the quarterfinal stage. The first time came in the 2000/01 UEFA Cup season, when the Madrid side was eliminated after losing to Alavés.
