The latest head-to-head meetings between the sides came in the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers, where the Italian national team confidently defeated the Greek side twice.

Greece has managed to secure only one victory in its last seven matches, beating Scotland in World Cup qualifying. Moreover, the Greeks failed to score in four games during that stretch. Despite this, the team traditionally performs well at home, winning seven of its last eleven matches on home turf while demonstrating solid attacking efficiency. It is worth noting that the Greek national team has not played to a draw at home since November 2023, when it shared the points with France in Euro qualifying.

Italy suffered a painful penalty shootout defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina in March in the final of the European World Cup qualification playoffs.
