Kick-off on October 5, 2026, at 21:45.

The match between Romania and Sweden in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League Division B group stage will take place at Arena Națională in Bucharest. In the opening match, the teams met in Solna, where the Swedish national team prevailed 2-1. The hosts scored a third goal in that match, but it was ruled out after a VAR review for a violation of the rules, while Romania managed just one shot on target throughout the game. Seven years ago, the teams' Euro qualifying match ended with the same score. The opponents have met three times in Romania: in the 1984 and 2020 European Championship qualifying campaigns, the teams exchanged 2-0 victories, while in a 2018 friendly in Craiova, the hosts won 1-0.

Before the start of the current edition of the tournament, the Romanian national team had lost only one official home match in the previous four years. That defeat came in March 2025 in World Cup qualifying, when Romania lost 0-1 to Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the recent match in Solna, Universitatea had the largest representation in the national team squad, sending four players onto the field.

From October 2023 until the start of the current Nations League campaign, the Swedish national team recorded just three wins in all of its away matches. During that stretch, the team scored in almost every away game, failing to find the net only against Azerbaijan, losing 0-3 in Euro qualifying, and Kosovo, losing 0-2 in World Cup qualifying. Only one player from the domestic league was included in the Swedish national team squad — defender Hampus Skoglund.
