Arena Națională in Bucharest will host a second-round Division B UEFA Nations League match: Romania vs Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two sides have previously met four times on Romanian soil. In Euro 2004 and Euro 2012 qualifying, the hosts won 2-0 and 3-0, respectively. In the 2022/23 Nations League, Romania was again the stronger side, winning 4-1. However, last year Bosnia broke its run of away misfortune and beat Romania in Bucharest in World Cup qualifying, 1-0.

In the previous Nations League cycle, Romania played in Division C, where it won every match in its group and moved up a tier. In its last ten home matches, the team has won eight, losing only to Bosnia, 0-1, and to Canada in a friendly, 0-3. Over that period, Romania has scored at least two goals on seven occasions. This year, the national team was taken over by former Sportul and Galatasaray midfielder Gheorghe Hagi.

In the previous edition of the tournament, Bosnia and Herzegovina played in elite Division A but picked up only two points, conceded seventeen goals, and dropped down a level. In its last eight away matches, Bosnia has suffered only one defeat — to Slovenia, 1-2. But across all four editions of the Nations League, Bosnia has picked up only one away win.
