As part of the UEFA Champions League league phase, Spanish side Villarreal will host Italian club Napoli. The match will take place at Estadio de la Cerámica in Villarreal. The hosts are determined to make amends in front of their home fans, use quick attacks down the flanks, and put an end to their run of disappointing results. The visitors from Naples arrive for this away match with a firm intention to impose their tactical approach, take control of the midfield, and fight for all three points on the road.

Villarreal enters this round amid a dip in form, having suffered three defeats in its last matches in all competitions, including an unsuccessful start to the Champions League league phase, where the team lost 2-3 to Borussia Dortmund. The Yellow Submarine relies on aggressive attacks down the flanks and high density in the central area. The Valencian club desperately needs to avoid individual errors when transitioning from defense to attack in order to take control of the game from the opening minutes.

Napoli comes into the match in similarly unconvincing form, recording just one win alongside three defeats during its current run in all competitions, as well as starting its European campaign with a narrow 0-1 defeat. The Neapolitan side relies on well-structured tactical play in midfield, seeking to give its wide players as much freedom as possible and press the opponent's key players.

The history of the head-to-head meetings between these opponents recalls their Europa League playoff encounters, with the teams' most recent official meeting ending in a 1-1 draw, as well as a friendly that ended in a high-scoring 3-2 victory for the Spanish club. The upcoming Champions League match will give the Spanish players an opportunity to build on their previous successes at home, while for the visitors, it will be another important step toward confirming their status as favorites.
