Viking enters this round looking to improve its position in the European competition standings after losing 1-3 to Stuttgart in its opening match. Nevertheless, the side has been highly prolific in the domestic championship, recording three convincing victories in a row, including 3-0 and 8-1 thrashings. The Scandinavian team will need to avoid sitting too deep, maintain maximum concentration in the holding midfield area, and make the most of every slightest opportunity from set pieces.

Bayern Munich comes into the match in excellent form, enjoying a long unbeaten run and opening its Champions League league-phase campaign with a crushing 5-0 victory over Bodø/Glimt. The Munich side is traditionally strong thanks to its powerful attack, versatility in positional attacks, and tremendous speed on the flanks. The German club will look to pin the opponent back in its own half from the opening minutes, dictate a high tempo, and quickly break through the Norwegians' packed defensive structure.
