LASK enters this round needing to improve its position in the standings after suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat to AEK in the opening round of the league phase. The Linz side has also lacked consistency in its recent domestic matches, alternating wins with dropped points, although in its most recent friendly it defeated First Vienna 2-1. It will be extremely important for the hosts to defend reliably and with discipline, deny their opponents space around the penalty area, and look for opportunities on quick counterattacks.

Liverpool comes into the match in excellent form, enjoying a long unbeaten run in all competitions and opening its European campaign with a comeback 2-1 home victory over Atlético Madrid. The Reds rely on intense high pressing, quick transitions from defense to attack, and their traditional dominance in midfield. The English club will look to establish its high tempo from the opening minutes in order to quickly break through the Austrians' defensive structure and settle the question of the winner. The history of the head-to-head meetings between these opponents recalls their encounters in the 2023 Europa League, when the English giants came out on top in both matches, routing the Austrians 4-0 at home and winning 3-1 away. The upcoming Champions League match will give LASK players an opportunity to put up a tougher fight in front of their home fans, while for the visitors, it will be another important step toward securing their place among the leaders of the overall standings.
