The English side traditionally relies on total control of possession, intense high pressing, and rapid attacks down the wings. The hosts enter this match in excellent form, having opened their European campaign with a convincing 2-0 away victory over Porto. A recent 3-0 league win over Liverpool, with goals from Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku, and Rayan Cherki, further confirms the team's attacking strength. It is crucial for Manchester City to remain solid defensively when dealing with the opponents' occasional counterattacks, establish dominance in midfield, and settle the outcome by moving the ball quickly around the edge of the opposition's penalty area.

AEK is a well-coordinated and tactically disciplined team that is comfortable playing on the counterattack. The Greek club has experience defending effectively and arrives in Manchester after a convincing 3-0 domestic league victory over OFI, with Filipe Relvas, Harold Moukoudi, and Mijat Gaćinović finding the net. The main task for the Athens side will be to pack the central area, closely mark the home team's attacking leaders, and make effective use of the few set-piece opportunities it gets near the opponents' goal in an effort to secure a positive result. The two teams have never met in official European competitions, so the upcoming match will mark the beginning of their head-to-head history.
