Ajax enters this home fixture looking to make amends for inconsistent results on the international stage and earn points against a strong opponent. In the Dutch league, the club has been producing mixed performances, drawing 1-1 with NEC Nijmegen and 2-2 with Excelsior in recent rounds. It is crucial for the hosts to maintain the utmost discipline in their defensive structure, deny the Italian players space on the wings, and look for opportunities to strike on quick counterattacks.

Atalanta is a well-coordinated and tactically flexible team working through a challenging start to the season. In the Italian league, the Bergamo side has alternated strong performances with disappointing setbacks, earning six points from its first five matches but managing to turn things around in its most recent Serie A fixture against Venezia, which ended in a 3-1 home victory. Earlier, the Italian club faced serious resistance in away matches, losing 2-1 to Roma and 2-0 to Juventus, and also suffering an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari. The visitors will try to control the pace of the game from the opening minutes, take the initiative away from the Dutch players, and make the most of set pieces near the opposition's goal.

The upcoming match will be a serious tactical battle between two teams looking to strengthen their positions in this European competition. The sides have met before in official European club competitions, facing each other in the 2020 Champions League group stage, when the Italian club recorded a 1-0 victory, and the teams also played out a 2-2 draw. For the Italian side, this match will be an important test away from home, while the hosts will have an excellent opportunity to measure themselves against a strong opponent on their own ground, in front of their home fans.
