Three novellas tell us about love in different periods of life and how intertwining fates and everyday randomness help understand the nature of human emotions. "Youth" is the story of an ambitious young lawyer, Roberto, who suddenly gets a blinding flash of passion to an entirely different woman on the eve of his wedding. In "Maturity", a successful presenter Fabio, a devoted husband and loving father, by coincidence of circumstances gets into the arms of an amazing young Elian. "After" is the story of Hadrian, an American professor of art history, which after a divorce decides to move to Rome. He is lonely and depressed. The only person who shows any interest to Adrian is his doorman Augusto. That is he whom Adrian tells his secret: seven years ago, he suffered a major heart surgery. Taking pity on the lonely Adrian, Augusto leads him into his home and introduces to his family. But as soon as Adrian sees Augusto's beautiful daughter, he instantly forgets about the scars on his heart.
