On the eve of his wedding, a young doctor Sergei is going to his mother in the province and advises the bride not to go with him. His mother works in the reserve, and here lives Varya, Sergei's ex-girlfriend, who is expecting his child. But he does not feel any remorse. Contrary to the prohibition Sergei hunts in the reserve and kills a deer. Instead of viewing photos of his father, whom he did not find alive, Sergei prefers to cook barbecue from the deer.
