Slavic lands are regularly subjected to attacks of Tatars, small princelings arrange continuous local skirmishes, and simple peasants are dying of hunger and disease. Those were dark times, but even in these circumstances, real talents are born. This was Andrei Rublyov, a brilliant painter whose few works are still striking with the skill today.
