A young rural woman Klavdiya Puchlyakova finds a Gipsy boy at the crushed by the tanks tilt cart. Having taken pity on the child, she takes him home and raises like her own son. The seventeen years have passed. Once a Gipsy Budulay, a lonely and suffered much man, appears in the village. He quickly gains the affection of Puchlyakova’s stepson. Having suspected that Budulay is the boy’s father, Klavdiya fears that her family peace will be broken.
