A deep lake with an unknown form of life resembling plants has been discovered on a hot and dying planet in the Centaurus constellation. Oleg Yankov is studying the discovery in his laboratory together with the geneticist Anurov and a reporter Gleb. Suddenly a strange flower turns into a woman named Aira. She tries to establish closer contact with a physicist Olmin, who is working on creation of a solar funnel. This will provide a huge amount of cheap energy, enough to save the dying planet.
