Get Smart is a 2008 action comedy directed by Peter Segal. The main character, analyst Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell), unexpectedly finds himself promoted to field agent and receives his first major mission — to dismantle the powerful criminal organization KAOS. The fate of the entire world is at stake, and any mistake could lead to disaster. To boost his chances of success, Max is partnered with the experienced and charismatic Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway), who not only assists him on the mission but also captivates him with her charm.

The film is a remake of the popular 1960s television series created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. Like the original, it retains a parody tone, though the story is condensed into a 1-hour-50-minute runtime. The cast also includes Alan Arkin as the Chief of CONTROL and Dwayne Johnson as Agent 23 — a performance that earned him an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Villain. Steve Carell, in turn, received a nomination for Best Comedic Performance.

Particularly noteworthy is the on-screen chemistry between Carell and Hathaway. Their characters share a mentor–protégé relationship, though in real life the actress is much younger than her co-star. Their dynamic adds an extra layer of charm and energy to the film.
