«Erendira Doesn’t Want to Die» is a performance by director Maksym Holenko, based on a play by Ukrainian playwright Lena Liahushonkova, which in turn is based on a work by Gabriel García Márquez.
The production is filled with energy, outrageousness, and playful emotionality — a true theatrical film with a Ukrainian character.

The main roles are played by Anastasiia Pustovit (Erendira) and Dmytro Oliinyk (Grandma).
Their story is painful, harsh, and incredibly realistic. After a fire that destroyed their house, the grandmother decides to sell the virginity of her 14-year-old granddaughter.
Two hundred twenty pesos and canned meat — a price that turns the girl into a hostage of a lifelong debt.

The performance aptly combines carnivalesque elements and political satire, the rational and the irrational, the grotesque and living reality.
It exposes the themes of violence and powerlessness, which can still be a truth of our world.

In 2022, the production was included in the top 10 best Ukrainian performances in the rating of Ukrainian theatre critics Kyiv Account.
