The film is based on real events that took place in southern Kazakhstan in 1992. At the time, a group of prisoners was being transported to Russia. Along the way, they managed to escape and take passengers on a public bus hostage. In response, the authorities deployed the country’s top law enforcement and national security officers to carry out the rescue mission.
